Giovanna Grasso ACSW, MSW

As an Associate Clinical Social Worker, I specialize in working with children and adolescents, providing a safe and welcoming space where clients feel comfortable being and expressing themselves fully. I live in Grass Valley with my Husband and our three children, and I love being a part of this amazing community. Being a parent myself has deeply shaped my approach with children- understanding how big emotions can show up in little bodies, and how vital it is for each child to feel safe, heard and supported.

My therapeutic approach is client centered, compassionate and collaborative. I specialize in using a blend of play therapy, art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution focused therapy, mindfulness and self-compassion approaches. As a child centered therapist, I believe in meeting each child where they are at, tailoring each session to meet the needs, validate the emotions and build on the strengths of each child. I also incorporate age-appropriate approaches to teaching mindfulness, emotional awareness, and coping strategies to help children manage their strong emotions. Integrating age-appropriate cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, self-compassion and motivational techniques supports emotional regulation, resilience and growth.

I strive to create a warm, nurturing space where each person feels they can be themselves and engage in the therapeutic process. Outside of providing therapy, I enjoy spending time with my family and hiking the beautiful area with our wonderful dog, Tucker. By incorporating the peace and innate wisdom of nature into my daily life and clinical practice, I am guided by the belief that each person’s unique developmental and emotional path is best supported through attuned, relationship-centered interventions.
